Specialized Warfighting Training

Specialized Warfighting Training

Warfighter and Human Trafficking

Human trafficking can threaten the safety and security of our supply chain for goods and services, affect warfighter readiness, create insider threats on our military installations, and sex traffickers operating near military installations create counterintelligence threats. In addition, case law shows that human trafficking is linked to drug trafficking, arms trafficking, migrant smuggling, and other transnational and domestic criminal activities. Like terrorists, arms traffickers, and drug traffickers, human traffickers use asymmetric/unconventional tactics and combating them requires training to recognize the ways in which human trafficking may be utilized to engage in irregular warfare. This training includes original animated maps showing routes and patterns of traffickers across U.S. borders and across the U.S., gang involvement in human trafficking, and a map showing where cases involving hundreds of victims of sex and labor trafficking occurred in the U.S.

Terminal Learning Objectives (TLOs):

  • Why and how human trafficking occurs in warfare and who is involved
  • What constitutes human trafficking, utilizing the term “severe forms of trafficking in persons” as defined in Section 7102 of Title 22, U.S.C.
  • How human trafficking can affect mission readiness
  • What are the signs and indicators of human trafficking, victims of trafficking, and perpetrators, especially confronting asymmetric enemies
  • Fundamental laws and policies
  • Reporting procedures for suspected or confirmed human trafficking incidents

At the direction of the President, U.S. Northern Command is supporting the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and its operational component, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, by providing mission-enhancing capabilities to secure the border and stop the flow of human trafficking, illegal drugs, contraband, criminals, and illegal aliens into the country. CTIP Training for the National Guard (CTIP-NG-US022)

Whether responding to environmental or public health disasters, urban crime, major sporting events, protests or border crises, Guard members must recognize the signs of human trafficking to ensure mission success and to protect the citizens of the United States. Both at home or abroad, National Guard missions often place Guard members into areas and circumstances where human trafficking occurs. This training will enhance mission readiness for Guard members by giving them an understanding of human trafficking, relevant laws, signs and indicators to look for, and how to respond appropriately to suspected or confirmed trafficking incidents. This training contains original interactive maps showing how traffickers exploit the U.S. borders and trafficking routes and patterns across the U.S.

Terminal Learning Objectives (TLOs):

  • What constitutes human trafficking, utilizing the term “severe forms of trafficking in persons” as defined in Section 7102 of Title 22, U.S.C.
  • How you may encounter human trafficking in National Guard traditional and nontraditional deployments
  • How human trafficking can affect mission readiness
  • What are the signs and indicators of human trafficking
  • Fundamental laws and policies
